Christmas Markets on the Rhine

Join us for a magical four-day Christmas break to the Rhine Valley, combining two wonderful German Christmas markets with a relaxing stay in the charming riverside town of Rüdesheim. We travel from home by coach to Folkestone, where we board the Eurotunnel for the short journey to Calais before continuing through France and into Germany, with comfort stops along the way. Our destination is Rüdesheim, where we will spend three nights enjoying the festive atmosphere and traditional hospitality of this beautiful wine-growing town.

Our base is the welcoming Hotel Felsenkeller, ideally situated in the heart of Rüdesheim's old town. The hotel offers a comfortable and convenient base for our Christmas markets adventure, with all rooms featuring walk-in showers. Our stay includes breakfast each morning and dinner each evening, including a three-course set menu on our first night and three-course dinners on the following evenings. There is also porterage on arrival and departure, making our stay as easy and relaxing as possible.

Our first full day is spent enjoying the Rüdesheim Christmas Market, where the old town comes alive with festive sights, sounds and aromas. Following breakfast, you will have free time to explore the charming streets, browse the international market stalls and sample delicious local food and wines. There will also be the opportunity to visit the famous Drosselgasse, one of Rüdesheim's best-known and most atmospheric streets. With its traditional buildings, wine taverns and festive decorations, Rüdesheim provides a wonderful setting for a Christmas market experience.

The following day we head to Frankfurt, home to one of Germany's oldest and most beautiful Christmas markets. Enjoy a full day at leisure discovering the festive stalls, traditional crafts, seasonal gifts and tempting German specialities. Look out for local favourites such as Bethmännchen, a delicious marzipan pastry decorated with almonds, while hot apple wine is a particular favourite for warming up as you explore the market. There is plenty of time to soak up the lively Christmas atmosphere before we return to Rüdesheim for dinner.

After breakfast on our final morning, we begin our journey home, travelling back through Germany and France to Calais, with a comfort stop en route. We then board the Eurotunnel for our return journey to Folkestone before continuing home.
