A walk on the south side including a tour of Southwark Cathedral
Book NowThe area on the south side of the River Thames has had a rich and colourful history. Once described as the "side of the undesirables", today it is a wonderful place to explore with its historic food destination of Borough Market, and grand Southwark Cathedral.
Our tour of this area will include a guided walk to hear more about the time when bishops, playwrights, breweries and brothels lived and worked alongside each other, and discover why it was once known as Londons Larder. We will explore its association with Shakespeare and Dickens, as well as prisons and medicine, and will see how the area has evolved in recent years.
The tour will finish at the renowned food market - Borough Market - which may appear familiar as it has been used as a location for films including Bridget Jones and Harry Potter. Here you will have time to explore its delights and enjoy some lunch.
Suitably refreshed we finish our day in this area with a one hour guided tour of Southwark Cathedral.
