Beautiful Northumbria

We are delighted to offer a tour featuring some of the best attractions the North East has to offer.

The wonderful blend of ancient castles, golden beaches, rolling hills and rugged moorland makes this a truly memorable region to experience.

Tour highlights:

  • Alnwick Castle & Garden

  • Holy Island & Bamburgh

  • River Tyne cruise

  • Beamish Open Air Museum

  • Newcastle

Day 1

Morning collection from your home to join our coach and travel to the North East, stopping in the Yorkshire spa town of Harrogate before continuing to our hotel in Newcastle.

D

Day 2

A full day visit to the superb, award winning Beamish Open Air Museum where the past comes to life. Beamish is unique - a living, working experience of life as it was in the Great North in the early 1800s and 1900s. Set in over 300 acres of beautiful countryside, it demonstrates the recent history of the region in a ‘living’ way and provides entertainment and education for visitors of all ages and interests.

B, D

Day 3

This morning we have a leisurely morning in Newcastle. Just a short walk along the quayside from our hotel is the Millennium Winking Eye Bridge and Newcastle’s famous quayside. Perhaps enjoy a riverside stroll or take a walk into the city centre. Later we join a boat at the quayside for a fabulous cruise on the River Tyne, with expert commentary.

B, D

Day 4

Today we head north to the medieval market town of Alnwick, still retaining many of its cobbled streets, narrow alleys and fine stone buildings. We visit the magnificent castle, home to the Duke of Northumberland family dating back to 1309. The castle has famously featured in several ‘Harry Potter’ films and also ‘Downton Abbey’. The beautifully landscaped Alnwick Garden has many unique features, sculptures, the infamous Poison Garden and one of the largest tree houses in the world.

B, D

Day 5

After breakfast we take a drive along the scenic heritage coastline and cross the tidal causeway to Holy Island and the mysterious Lindisfarne Castle. We return via Bamburgh, with its mighty castle on the beach.

B, D

Day 6

We depart our hotel after breakfast and commence our homeward journey arriving back in East Anglia during the early evening where our door to door service will be waiting to return you home.
