Christmas at Layer Marney Tower with lunch

Arrive to a cup of tea/coffee followed by a tour through the festive rooms of the house decorated with trees, candles and twinkling lights.

 

Settle down to a traditional three course Christmas lunch in the Long Gallery, once the Tudor stables, with views across the gardens.

 

After lunch wander over to the underfloor heated Essex Barn for a performance of ‘Twas the Night before Christmas. This year’s entertainment will be a light-hearted look at how and why our Christmas came into being to form the festivities we recognise today and will include a new era not performed last year . With Clement C Moore’s classic poem at its heart, expect a trip through time and traditions with music, singing and of course, some jolly audience participation. St Nicholas may even put in an appearance!

 

Finish the afternoon with mulled wine, a touch of retail therapy and a mince pie.

• Christmas Play in the Essex Barn

• Mulled wine and Mince pie
