Book Now

This day out starts at Sheffield Park Station which was built in 1882 by the London Brighton and South Coast Railway. This station was really built to serve Lord Sheffield who owned the large house and estate about a mile away.

Here you have free time to explore the Steamworks! exhibition before your steam train trip.

Situated in the locomotive shed, the Steamworks! exhibition uses touchscreen displays, information boards and interactives to bring the science and mechanics of steam to life. The star of the show is an interactive model of a locomotive. Based on the Terrier Class locomotive 'Stepney' (as featured in the Thomas the Tank Engine book series), this special 'engine' features a display showing how the engine's boiler works, and, as an added bonus, a special driving experience simulator in the cab will enable you to experience what its like tu drive Stepney on the Bluebell Railway.

Once you board the steam train, travel down the tracks as you are served a ploughmans lunch. Tuck into your lunch before arriving at East Grinstead.

Once you return to Sheffield Park Station, rejoin the coach and make your way to the lovely tea room where you will be served a cream tea before the jounrye back to East Anglia.
